Dans une note portant la signature de Jean Baden Dubois, publiée ce 28 octobre 2020, la Banque de la République d’Haïti annonce avoir injecté 12 millions de dollars américains sur le marché des changes. Dans ce document, la Banque Centrale a apporté des précisions concernant cette nouvelle injection effectuée dans l’optique de contenir la hausse du taux de change.
La répartition de ce montant est faite entre les institutions bancaires. En effet, la Unibank et la Sogebank ont reçu la part du lion, soit 2,125 millions et 2,110 millions, respectivement. La BNC, la Capital et la BUH ont reçu, respectivement, 2,095 millions, 2,090 millions et 2,080 millions.
Sur la liste figurent trois autres institutions financières qui ont reçu le même montant de 500 000 dollars américains. Il s’agit de la Sogebel, la Citibank et la BPH.
Cette opération “open market” implique certaines conditions imposées par le Gouverneur de la BRH. Les institutions financières achètent donc le dollar à 62 gourdes et ne doivent le revendre à un taux ne dépassant pas 62,50 gourdes, soit une marge de bénéfice de 0,50 centimes pour un dollar.
