La marque chinoise a dévoilé un smartphone dont l’écran s’enroule et se déroule pour agrandir la surface d’affichage. Au stade du prototype, l’Oppo X 2021 permet ainsi de passer de la dalle d’un smartphone (6,7 pouces) à celle d’une mini-tablette (7,4 pouces).
Première marque à proposer un smartphone doté d’un capteur photo rétractable il y a deux ans avec le Find X, ou encore à cacher le capteur photo sous l’écran, Oppo a profité de sa conférence « Inno Day » pour dévoiler l’Oppo X 2021, le premier modèle équipé d’un écran déroulable. Vendu comme un smartphone doté d’une dalle de 6,7 pouces, il passe à 7,4 pouces grâce à son écran qui s’enroule et se déroule. Cela peut être très utile lorsque l’on joue ou lorsque l’on regarde une série TV dans les transports.
On avait aperçu de nombreux brevets, et même un projet concurrent signé TCL ; la marque chinoise a opté pour un écran qui se déroule sur la largeur. Il faut préciser que ce n’est qu’un prototype mais ce format « slider », déjà connu il y a 15 ans, se prête bien à ce type d’usage, et comme l’explique la marque, il n’y a aucune trace de pliure contrairement aux modèles dotés d’écrans pliables.

Pour réaliser cette prouesse, Oppo s’appuie sur une dalle montée sur deux petits moteurs avec un système de lames coulissantes qui permettent de dérouler la dalle de manière équilibrée et uniforme pour éviter des pliures, voire des cassures. Dans sa présentation, la marque explique qu’elle s’appuie sur une technologie propriétaire baptisée « Warp Track » qui soutient la dalle.
Dans une autre démonstration, on peut découvrir que l’écran s’élargit lorsqu’on passe le doigt sur le bord droit de l’écran. C’est donc un système robotisé et ce n’est pas manuellement que l’utilisateur étire la dalle. Sans doute, est-ce pour éviter toute mauvaise manipulation et tout geste brusque qui pourrait endommager ce système de lattes situées sous la dalle, mais aussi pour bien bloquer l’écran une fois qu’il est élargi.
